Hello. It's me, Robin Ziiro.

I make paintings and prints, games and objects in the mystical novelty game design space. Right before the pandemic hit, I collaborated with a friend to create the San Francisco Oracle; a tarot-style deck we funded through crowdsourcing. We sold through most of that initial run, but when the world shut down, our plans shifted. It's been so long now that the original edition feels practically vintage. A second edition is in talks for this year, so watch this space and stay tuned.

I've been quite busy in the years since that first edition. The secret to my productivity is consistency through micro habits. Take today, for example—it's Thursday afternoon, and I'm at my studio space in Compound Interdisciplinary Studios doing my "digital hour," which means spending a little focused time on my laptop every single day. There's this website you're on right now, plus all the digital work that goes into creating the paintings, prints and art objects I want to make. For example, in a couple of weeks, I'm taking a laser cutting class, which means I need to learn Inkscape. I want to make a necklace that says words on it, but I haven't decided which word/ I'm also developing a serograph series with interlocking color layers, and I'm making the masters for that in photoshop. I'm not typically a digital creator. My contribution to the SF Oracle was mostly sharpie drawings. Digital hour is me giving myself a chance to be a beginner and learn.

The Coke Zero print is a risograph. I learned riso printing last year, and practiced by printing some of my favorite guilty pleasures. This piece has four color layers—red, sunflower, teal, and black—each one originally drawn with Sharpie on separate pieces of vellum. Soon, copies will be available in the Limited Edition section of this website.

And that's digital hour for today. Time to get up and make something with my hands.

Until next we meet,

Robin Ziiro
